From the looks of it, it can be a bit difficult for beginners to learn. This is especially true for the capitalized version of the letter but can be quite fun once you get the hang of it.

It doesn’t get easier if you make it more stylish, but it can be very rewarding if you take the time to do it!

So we have prepared these 6 easy steps to draw your own awesome letter B. Once you complete these steps you will have everything you need to create a bold and beautiful version of this letter.

How to Draw A Fancy Letter B

Step 1

As mentioned above, the letter B is not as simple as many other letters in the alphabet. Because of this, we think you should take a close look at the final images of this guide.

This will show you what we are aiming for and may make it easier for you to work through the steps of the guide. You can also roughly draw the letter in pencil.

This will help you add the final lines of the design as you will have a general idea of the shape we are going for.

When you are ready, we can draw the first part of the drawing. To make this letter even fancier, we’re going to add twisted embellishments to the design.

We’ll start with the first of these, and it’s in the top left of the letter. The line curves and twists on itself, creating a sharp point near the center.

Then it keeps rotating until you have the shape you see in our reference image. Don’t be afraid to pencil this part before you get down to pen!

Step 2

Next, draw the left side of the letter. First, we draw a vertical line with a slight curve.

This vertical line extends down from the shape we drew in the previous step. As you can see in our example, the bottom part of this vertical line will turn into another swirling shape.

It will be quite similar in shape to the previous one, but slightly larger. You’ll also notice that this second swirling shape spins in the opposite direction to the first.

This is another step where we think it might benefit to pencil the swirl shape before using a ballpoint pen or darker colored pencil.

Now that we have created this second shape, we can move on to the third step of the tutorial, where we will finish the outline of the letter.

Step 3

In this third step, we’re going to add some more to this awesome letter B. While we’ll draw a lot, it might be a little less complicated than the first two steps.

Let’s just start with the little pointed part you see in the outline above. This starts where the first swirl shape ended and is drawn with some small curved lines.

After drawing, we extend a slightly rounded line to the first hump of the B. This hump ends about halfway through the letter.

Next, we draw the larger bump in the bottom half of the letter. It starts in the middle of the letter where the smaller bump ended.

Finally, the outline of the B is bent and finished as you see in the example. If you drew a rough B-shape with a pencil in preparation, you can also erase it now.

Step 4

The outline is ready and we can now draw the two holes in the outline of the letter. A normal letter B are simple rounded shape.

But we’re not drawing an ordinary letter B, we’re drawing a cool one! So we’re going to make the holes a little cooler, starting with the top one.

As you can see in the example, it will look like a shooting arch with curved lines on all sides. This one is quite easy, but the second one will be a bit more complex.

It looks a bit like an upside-down comma. There is a thin curved part at the top with a rounded section below.

Try to follow our example closely in drawing this part as it can be tricky. Now we can add some internal details in the next few steps!

Step 5

It’s time to decorate this letter a little and there are so many fun ways to do it! In our example, we show you just one of many ways you can decorate it.

You can mimic what we made if you like the look, but feel free to fill in the outline with any pattern or detail you like!

We created a zig-zag pattern by crossing the inside of the letter with slightly curved lines. You’ll also notice that we’ve added a swirl line to the top of the letter.

We think this design looks great and gives you plenty of coloring opportunities later in the guide.

Regardless of what you have chosen for this decoration, we can go into some final details in the next step.

Step 6

This is the penultimate step before adding some color to your design and is another step where you can get creative and add your own touch to it.

For our design version, we chose to surround the letter with dots of varying and increasing sizes. It’s a simple addition, but it adds dynamism.

We also drew some simple, slightly curved lines at the bottom left of the design. Finally, we added some small leaf-like shapes at the top of the letter.

Again, you can try to add these details to your drawing or take it in a completely different direction. This can include different shapes and line details around the letter.

Or you may want to draw a detailed background, add more letters, or have any other idea that comes to mind. We’ll come back to this after the last step and add more ideas for you to try!

Step 7

Painting is a great way to relax and have fun, especially when you’ve been working hard on a drawing like this.

So it’s good that this last step is dedicated! Now you can show off your artistic skills by coloring your drawing however you like.

In our reference image, we show you just one of the countless ways you can color your drawing.

The letter B is the first letter in the word blue, so it seems fitting that we chose blue for this letter.

We think it’s great and you can color it in similar colors if you feel like it. However, you are welcome to use any colors!

You don’t even have to stick to just one color. You can use different colors for all sections, switch between different color combinations, or play with different artistic tools and media.
